Christine McCoy
Whitesboro
Christine McCoy, 61, of Whitesboro, formerly Christine Berg, of Utica, died August 26, 2010, at Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare. She was born May 18, 1949, in Utica, and graduated from Utica Free Academy. She married David McCoy, April 22, 1978, in Washington Mills, NY; Christine worked for about seven years prior to her marriage as a Registered Nurse at St. Lukes Hospital. She was a member of Harts Hill Baptist Church, Whitesboro. Almost all of Christines life revolved around the people, ministries and activities of her church. She gave of herself with great passion and purpose in loving and supporting her husband and his work. She was the consummate woman, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Despite her humble, quiet, behind-the-scenes work, she was held in high regard and greatly esteemed for her virtuous life. She was a woman of great industry and acquainted with hard work. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her. Favor is deceitful and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. Christine wanted everyone to have a relationship with God, through her Savior Jesus Christ, like the one she had that served her so well through out life and in these dark and difficult final days. She is survived by her husband, Pastor David McCoy, of Whitesboro; her mother, Jean Berg, of Clinton; her five children, David J. McCoy, Whitesboro, Samantha Armitage, of Oriskany, NY, Suzanne Pyne and husband, Brent, of Utica, Jesse McCoy and wife, Tara, of Utica, and Seth McCoy and wife, Kayte, of Whitesboro; 14 grandchildren, Carly, Damien, Conrad, Adam, Jack, Isaac, Eli, Noah, Xavier, Tucker, Gunner, Madison, Eden and a granddaughter due in October; one great-grandson, Jonathan; two brothers and one sister, Norman Berg and wife, Natalie, of Central Square, NY, Terry Hammes and husband, Ed, of Washington Mills, and Paul Berg and wife, Paula, of Oak Park, IL; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to her brothers and sisters at church and even around the country who have prayed for and helped Christines family. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Faxton-St.Lukes Healthcare who did the best they could to put a stop to what apparently was inevitable. It must have been frustrating and disheartening. The family loves you for your efforts. God Bless you. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:45 AM at the Harts Hill Baptist Church, Wilcox Road, Whitesboro. Interment will be in Grand View Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd, New Hartford, and on Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider the Harts Hill Baptist Church.
